Crisis Brewing in Plateau ADC as EXCO Members Plot Move Against Chairman, Three Others

Indications have emerged that a crisis may be brewing in the Plateau State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following an alleged plot by some members of the State Executive Committee (EXCO) to pass a vote of no confidence on the party’s Chairman, Women’s Leader, Public Relations Officer (PRO), and Organising Secretary.

The move is said to be linked to allegations of financial misappropriation, lack of transparency, and what aggrieved members described as undemocratic practices within the party’s leadership structure.

Some EXCO members alleged that the affected officials had been collecting money from aspirants and candidates seeking party nominations, a development they claimed had generated widespread dissatisfaction among party faithful.

The officials were also accused of allegedly handpicking candidates for elective positions rather than allowing transparent and competitive internal processes to determine party nominees.

According to the aggrieved members, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the leadership further allocated votes to preferred candidates during internal party exercises, a situation they described as unfair and contrary to the principles of internal democracy.

Several stakeholders, including state party officials, local government chairmen and members of the State Executive Committee, alleged that repeated complaints over the conduct of the party leadership had gone unaddressed despite efforts to resolve the issues through internal channels.

The stakeholders expressed concern that the lingering controversy could undermine the party’s credibility, weaken its structure and affect its chances in future political engagements across the state.

Some of the EXCO members behind the planned vote of no confidence argued that the alleged actions of the affected officials had contributed to the ADC’s limited visibility and recognition in Plateau State.

They called on the national leadership of the party to urgently investigate the allegations and take necessary steps to restore confidence among members and stakeholders.
