The Progressives Local Government Chairmen for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia have nominated the Executive Chairman of Agatu Local Government Council, Ambassador Melvin James Ejeh, as the Benue State Coordinator of the group.
Ejeh, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Benue State Chapter, was nominated in recognition of his leadership capacity, commitment to grassroots development and experience in stakeholder engagement.
The nomination was made by the Benue State leadership of the group, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ALGON, Benue State Chapter, and other critical stakeholders in the state.
A letter dated October 23, 2026 and signed by the group’s Director General, Hon. Freedom Bassey, formally conveyed the nomination.
The group said its primary objectives were to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, promote effective local governance and support the policies and programmes of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Alia’s administration.
The group, comprising executive chairmen of local government councils across APC-controlled states in Nigeria, said Ejeh’s appointment was aimed at strengthening its mobilisation efforts in Benue State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his personally signed letter of acceptance, Ejeh thanked the leadership of the group and other stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.
He said, “I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Progressives Local Government Chairmen for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for finding me worthy of this responsibility.
“I also appreciate Governor Hyacinth Alia for the confidence placed in me. I am committed to advancing the administration’s political objectives and strengthening our grassroots mobilisation efforts.”
Ejeh pledged to work closely with APC leaders, local government chairmen and other stakeholders across Benue State to mobilise support for Tinubu, Alia and other candidates of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “I accept this responsibility with a deep sense of duty and commitment. I will work with all stakeholders across the state to ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the development agenda of Governor Alia receive strong grassroots support.”
