Plateau State Governor Barrister Caleb Mutfwang at the weekend reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in sustaining peace and security in the state.
He made this known while speaking at the 3rd Armored Division Rukuba Barracks Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA) 2025, held at the Parade Ground, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.
Represented by the Commissioner of Information and Communication, Rt Hon Joyce Lohya Ramnap Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of the Nigerian Army’s role in promoting peace, security, and national unity, describing WASA as a strong demonstration of the enduring bond, mutual trust, and cordial relationship” between the people of Plateau State and the Nigerian Army.
Governor Mutfwang commended the Nigerian Army for their sacrifices and contributions to peace and security in Plateau State and across Nigeria, highlighting the state’s progress in restoring peace and stability. He noted that Plateau State is proudly reclaiming its identity as the Home of Peace and Tourism.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for their support and deployment of troops to Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang who also inspected the quarter guards at the occasion also appreciated the President, Commander in Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his tireless support to the Armed Forces and the people of Plateau State.
“He reassured the state government commitment to working with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to maintain peace and stability in the state, and encourages all stakeholders to support the government’s efforts in this regard.
Speaking earlier Major General Folusho Oyinlola the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Armored Division Jos said the West African Social Activities is a yearly military tradition, to promote unity and cultural exchange within the barracks.
The Include cultural displays, tug-of-war, award presentations for outstanding soldiers.
He said the purpose is to strengthen bonds between soldiers, families, and communities as well as reinforce discipline, and acknowledges year-round efforts. .
